Crich Chase Coaching Results

Results from the Crcih Chase Coaching session on 22nd October now available from link below.

It was a beautiful day to be out in the woods enjoying lots of courses around the paths. Ann-Marie hopes that you all enjoyed the training session and will try another event. A big thank-you to the parents and grandparents who brought the 15 children out so early on a Saturday morning.

Derbyshire Dales Sports Awards 2011

Congratulations to DVO member Judith Holt who won the Veteran Sportsperson of the Year title at the Derbyshire Dales Sports Awards 2011. Judith received her award for consistently good performances at regional, national and international level including winning her class at the Interland in Germany and second place in the British Championships in both individual and relay events. Mention was also made of her involvement in the proposed development of permanent courses in DDDC parks planned to be accessible to all members of the local community.

Welcome to the New Committee

There was a good attendance of club members at the AGM on 12th October with some very interesting debates, many thanks to all who turned up.

Many thanks also to the retiring members of the committee and of course for those that are staying on in a different role and new entrants! Thanks particularly to Steve Kimberley for his excellent stint of three years as Chair and EMOA Rep. who is now taking the easy life of Vice-Chair together with preparation of event flyers. Also to Roger Keeling who has also done three years as Treasurer, during this time Roger has maintained very good quality accounts ensuring that the club is in a good financial position. Finally to Dave Bennett for preparing all those quality event flyers.

It should be mentioned that Dave Walker has in recent weeks verified the club accounts for the last two years - the meeting expressed its thanks to Dave for his excellent work.

That's a whole load of people however if any club members would like to attend any committee then they are most welcome. Hopefully dates and locations will appear on this website in the near future. Naturally the Open Meetings, roughly every three months, are particularly meant for the participation of the whole club. See you there!

Coaching Opportunities Saturday 22nd October Crich Chase.


9am – 10:30 practice basic skills for White and Yellow standard competitors.

11am – 12:30 practice aiming off on slopes / through undergrowth for Orange standard and above. The session will be made up of short distance exercises to get the brain thinking about what will affect the perfect route to the desired location to the side of the control.

For both sessions meet in woods on main footpath from Chadwick Nick Lane. Park in the lane or Crich Market Place (15 mins walk). Contact me for further details.

Please let me know in advance by email to jasrduckworth@btinternet.com if you are coming so the correct number of maps can be prepared.

Anyone able to help with marshalling the first session will be very welcome.

DVO AGM

Just a reminder that the DVO AGM will be held at the Bell Inn in Cromford next Wednesday (12 Oct) at 8pm
For those who wish to go training there is a run beforehand from the Bell starting at 7pm
